Inspired by the syndicated show, 'The History of Rock & Roll', the 'Rock and Roll Generation'
ran during the holiday week between Christmas and New Year each year in 1969 - 1971.

Good Guy Davy Jones writes:

The 'Rock and Roll Generation' was a highly researched, in-depth, chronological on-air over-view of the music of the 50's through the 70's. big Wilson (who narrated the special) and I spent hours researching the music, the styles, the ethnic aspects of the music, and came up with what we considered one of the most in depth overviews of the music industry ever put together for a radio station presention. It was a dynamic and truly entertaining presentation, and should forever be a part of really creative radio.

WPGC - Motown Generation

Just three weeks after the final run of, the 'Rock and Roll Generation' in 1971, a spin-off, the 'Motown Generation' aired on 01/22/72 - 01/23/72. Unlike the pre-produced elements recorded by Big Wilson which ran throughout the show, excerpts narrated by Charlie Van Dyke from a 1970 documentary on vinyl produced by Drake-Chenault for Motown Records, 'The Motown Story' were used for the special.

Then, another three weeks elapsed before another spin-off, the 'Beatles Generation' debuted, running over 02/12/72 - 02/13/72. This time, the pre-produced elements originated with the 1964 Capitol Records release, 'The Beatles Story', consisting of interview segments and other actualities from the earliest days of Beatlemania in the States. Written and narrated by John Babcock, it also featured the voices of Al Wiman & Roger Christian (later, a song writing partner of Brian Wilson) from KFWB in Hollywood.
