Dedicated in memory of Jim Collins

Johnny Jones came from WAMS in Wilmington, Delaware in 1972 and went on to become one of the original staff of Buzz Bennett's 13Q in Pittsburgh after leaving WPGC the following year. He then went on to program WRVR-FM and later WYNY in New York.

'Johnny' writes:

Unmasked! Unbelievable! Bob Howard named me 'Johnny Jones' in 1972. I came from WAMS in Wilmington, DE (an AM facility that is now used to broadcast traffic info concerning I-95). As I recall our greatest accomplishment at the time was that WPGC became the first FM station in a top ten market to be ranked #1 in a daypart (7-12, naturally).

I went to 13Q in Pittsburgh in 1973, then back to DC at WRC for a brief period in 1975, then back to 13Q and then to WRVR in NYC in '77. My last job in radio was at NBC's O&O FM in NYC, WYNY, where I was Program Director in 1979. After that I was out of radio and went back to college at SUNY Binghamton, where I earned a PhD from the engineering school in 1990.

Since then I've started a series of specialized technology-related publishing businesses in New York. Currently I'm working with one called GenomeWeb, which focuses on molecular biology research.

Great site! Thanks for the memories.
