Linda
writes:
I
was a Money Girl on the morning
show with Harv Moore for a
brief period of time. I was hired by Harv as the first female
rock jock at WPGC and one of the first in the country. Harv had
been looking for a "female rock jock" for more than
five years but could not find one. Harv heard me on WLPL in Baltimore
and hired me after I had been at WLPL only a few DAYS! WPGC and
Harv were a dream to me! I grew up listening to both! I did overnights
(2-6AM) and often stayed over with Harv for the early part of
the morning show. So,most of my time at WPGC was as a jock. Later,
I became a Money Girl and
also did "Sound Off"
and the Sunday morning show "Contact."
I
was in radio 30 years in the Washington area. I did morning drive
at WWDC-AM when it was rock, worked at WMZQ (twice), Xtra-104
(middays and MD), and Mix 107.3 (twice) and for the last eight
years of my career. I also worked at WPGC twice when I came back
to "Classy 95" as MD and evening jock. After 30 years
in the biz, I am now happily raising my 8 year old twins (Tommy
and Mollie) and am married to the Dir. of Engineering for Clear
Channel, Tom Shedlick. My oldest son Ryan, 21, is a senior at
UNC. Ryan grew up in the studios of WPGC / Classy 95 and WMZQ.
He often slept in a sleeping bag in the back of the studios while
I was on the air. Even as a baby, Ryan knew that if the "ON
AIR" light came on that he could not talk!
WPGC
was the best radio station I ever worked for. Harv and I are still
in touch. Charley Lake
& Joel
Denver remain two of my closest friends.
Jim Collins, Columbus and
I were very close. To this day, I still think of Jim and miss
him terribly. Dave Foxx and
I talked just recently. It's amazing how we are spread out throughout
the country but nothing can take away the loving feelings we developed
for each other at WPGC. Thanks for the memories!
