Waylon
Richards today in San Diego.
|
Waylon
Richards had previously worked in California, Omaha, Tulsa,
Kansas City, Dallas & San Antonio and joined
WPGC following the Great
Strike That Struck Out in the Summer of 1977 from WGCL
in Cleveland.
Initially
he did late nights 9p-1a then moved to 6-10p when Program
Director, Dan Mason took
himself off the air to tend to National PD duties for First
Media. With
the arrival on Don Geronimo
in the Fall of 1979, he moved to 10p-2a. He
left WPGC in 1982 for Baltimore. Today
he runs his own advertising agency in San Diego.

Waylon
writes:
Great
website! Many of us WPGC alumni really appreciate it. After
I left WPGC, I went to Baltimore where I worked at Q105, then
back to Steve Kingston
who was then programming B104.
I left Baltimore to program KHFI / Austin where we took the
station from an 11.6 to an 18.4 share and won the National Program
Director of the Year Award from Pop Music Survey. I did a couple
more PD gigs (St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Nashville) then got
into station management as Vice President & Market Manager
in Atlantic City, NJ....Myrtle Beach, SC and Greenville, SC.
Today,
I am in San Diego where I am President of a small advertising
agency, Advizor. It has been doing fairly well, but I'm looking
for it to do bigger and better things.
Thanks
for the memories.
