Scott
(Tony) Jenkins today.
|
Scott
started his broadcasting career at Armed Forces Radio in
Taiwan while attending high school on the island. His father worked
for the Voice of America and when his family was not stationed
in DC, they lived overseas in Hong Kong and Kenya. After
graduating, he returned to the US and was soon working at major
market stations all over the country, including DC.
Scott
came to WPGC in early 1978 from WEEL
for weekends. By the Summer of 1979, he was the 10p - 2a personality,
but now using the name, 'Tony Jenkins' at the request of
Program Director, Scott
Shannon who renamed him to avoid confusion with the two other
'Scotts' on the station at the time, Scott
Woodside and Scott Carpenter. Later,
he did the overnight show before departing for evenings at KIMN
/ Denver in August, 1982.
In
1986 while working in Denver, he auditioned for NBC when the Network
stopped in Colorado on a nationwide hunt for new talent. He was
one of thousands across the country who read for parts. The audition
resulted in a role on the daytime drama, 'Santa Barbara'and
work on 'Generations'.
He
also has commerical and film credits and has been quite active
in narration for TBS, Discovery, the History Channel, the Travel
Channel and HGTV to name a few.
Today,
Scott does afternoons as 'Tony Scott' on Dial-Global's
Classic Rock satellite format in LA, as well as weekends and
swing at 95.5
KLOS where he hosts, 'The 7th Day', heard every Sunday
at 5PM, Pacific time.
