Big Don graduated high school, got married, had a child and started working at WPGC all at the tender age of 18 in 1973! He had previously worked at WOHN in Herndon and WINX in Rockville. Arriving at WPGC for part time fill-in work, he went full time doing the overnight show, succeeding Bryan Lawrence, originating from the Black Ulysses restaurant.

In 1974, he left for afternoons at WEAM but just a year later returned to WPGC for late nights. He left again for afternoons at WLPL in Baltimore. He then went on to numerous other stations including, WWDC, WEEL where he was Program Director in 1981, KIX-106, WASH, WAVA and B104 in Baltimore where he did mornings with Brian Wilson as 'Brian & O'Brien' in the mid '80's. He also did TV weather in Washington and Baltimore. Don briefly reunited with Brian for afternoons at Oldies 102.7 WQSR in 2004.

Today, Big Don has retired due to health concerns and is in Cambridge, MD.
